Moments into Woll's start, however, Brad Marchand skated behind the Leafs' net as the netminder played a routine puck. However, instead of making a play and getting back into his net, he had his leg clipped by Marchand on the fly-by, sending Woll crashing to the ice.
Although this type of play and contact happens at times in the NHL, almost all of the players do what they can to avoid hitting the goalie behind the net. However, there was no attempt by Marchand to avoid contact or slow down, making it look like it was done on purpose in an attempt to either injure the former third-round pick or generate some sort of reaction from the Leafs.
The Leafs have done well to stay away from the extracurricular activity through two games, but it will be even more difficult on Friday when the series shifts to Florida for Game 3 and Game 4 over the weekend.
