The Leafs unveiled their lineup for Thursday night's game against the New York Rangers, with William Nylander expected to play despite missing the morning skate.

Concern mounted at the Leafs' morning skate on Thursday morning when William Nylander did not take the ice with the rest of his teammates.
Many suspected that his absence was for maintenance reasons after a hard-fought game where the Leafs star finally made his presence felt on Tuesday with a 3-point effort against the Nashville Predators.
His 3-point performance comes after two lacklustre performances against the Detroit Red Wings that drew heavy criticism from head coach Craig Berube to begin the season.
In his place, Steven Lorentz took line rushes with John Tavares and Matias Maccelli on the second line.

Craig Berube Clarifies Status of William Nylander and Steven Lorentz

Ahead of Tuesday's game, Berube decided against inserting Steven Lorentz into the lineup, opting to give the forward another game off to recover from his upper-body injury.
When Lorentz took to the ice on Thursday, it was suspected that he would draw back in. That is not the case, however, as Berube decided against changing a winning lineup.
As for Nylander, Berube confirmed that his absence was due to maintenance, and that he will indeed suit up on Thursday night against the Rangers.

Easton Cowan Gets Another Opportunity on Top Line

In other Leafs news, after two solid performances that earned praise from Berube, rookie Easton Cowan will once again line up on the Leafs' top line with Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies.
Opting to keep a winning lineup, the bottom-six forward group remains the same with Bobby McMann and Nicholas Robertson flanking Max Domi, while a red-hot Calle Jarnkrok continues to accompany Dakota Joshua and Nicolas Roy on a very effective fourth line.
The Leafs will look to extend the Rangers' goalless drought to three games and look to win their second in a row after a 7-4 win over the Predators on Tuesday.
