Kings and Capitals swing blockbuster trade involving Pierre-Luc Dubois
The Los Angeles Kings and Washington Capitals have reportedly swung a huge deal involving former 3rd overall pick Pierre-Luc Dubois. The Kings will be receiving Darcy Kuemper in the deal.
Per Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, Dubois is being traded from the Kings after just one season and one year into his 8-year extension. The Capitals including goaltender Darcy Kuemper means the Kings have solidified their goaltending position.
In completing the trade with Washington, the Kings now have more than $23M in available cap space to work with. Per The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta, the team may re-engage with pending UFA defenseman Matt Roy to see if they can get him signed.
According to Pierre LeBrun, there is no salary retention and the deal is one for one.
There may be more to come...
