Former Maple Leafs forward David Kampf has officially found himself a new NHL home, signing a 1-year deal with a rival Canadian club.

It's been a long-time coming for ex-Leafs forward David Kampf, but he finally has a new NHL home after spending the last month toiling away in the American Hockey League.
Kampf had his contract with the Maple Leafs terminated this week after back and forth discussions about wanting to play in the NHL. The termination helped the Leafs by freeing up an additional $1.25M in cap space this season and $2.4M next season.
Kampf didn't do himself any financial favours by opting out of his deal, but did get to keep the signing bonus paid out to him by the Leafs on July 1st.
As far as where Kampf will continue his NHL career, according to reports, he has signed a 1-year contract with the Vancouver Canucks.
The Canucks were one of at least 3 teams who showed significant interest in Kampf following the news that he would have his deal terminated. The other two were reportedly the Montreal Canadiens and Pittsburgh Penguins.
You certainly feel good for Kampf here, as the veteran forward acted in desperation and took a leap of faith to attempt to extend his NHL career.
It is yet to be determined when Kampf may make his Canucks debut, but I know I'll be putting money on him scoring a goal against the Leafs in his first outing against his former team, as that always tends to happen.
