Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube has shared his opinion on how the NHL's 31 other teams treat their visits to Toronto and why the Leafs potentially have it rougher than other teams.
Before the game, Craig Berube spoke about how the Maple Leafs are a target for the rest of the league, drawing a comparison to his experience after the St. Louis Blues won the Stanley Cup.
As per LeafsLatest on X:
"I feel like the Toronto Maple Leafs have a target on them every night. We don't get an easy game, it seems like, especially at home. I mean, these teams all come into Toronto, and a lot of the players are from here, with family and all that, so they get fired up and geared up to play us. I find it's a tough night every night with the Leafs."
Proving Berube's point, Ontario native Sam Bennett scored two goals in Thursday's game for Florida, looking extremely dominant in front of plenty of family and friends in Toronto.
The Maple Leafs' head coach also mentioned that he felt the power play could have been better, as the Panthers' two power-play goals were the difference in the game.
Max Domi stood out, scoring a key goal, delivering a huge hit, and even dropped the gloves, coming very close to a Gordie Howe hat trick.
Meanwhile, superstar Mitch Marner was noticeably absent, a point that was highlighted by hockey analyst and former NHL goalie Carter Hutton, who criticized Marner's lack of impact in the intense game.
The Maple Leafs' next game will be against the Ottawa Senators at home on Saturday for the Battle of Ontario, where Toronto will look to bounce back.
