The Boston Bruins have traded Brad Marchand to the Leafs' Atlantic Division rival in a shocking last-minute NHL trade deadline deal.

After much debate over his future with the Bruins, Brad Marchand is off to the Florida Panthers to join Matthew Tkachuk and Sam Bennett.
Earlier in the day on Friday, Kevin Weekes teased that it was a possibility the Leafs could land Marchand, but after acquiring Scott Laughton, that door closed.
The Bruins and Marchand had discussions on a contract extension, but could not come to terms before the trade deadline, which led to the Bruins trading their 37-year-old captain.
While Marchand being traded is a shock, the more shocking part is that he was traded to a division rival and the defending Stanley Cup Champions.
As Marchand joins the Panthers, some believe there is a possibility of him rejoining the Bruins in the off-season as a free agent. For now, however, he went from a beloved player in Boston to one of their most hated rivals, and now Bruins fans will understand why every other fan base despises him.
