With uncertainty surrounding his future with the Boston Bruins, Kevin Weekes suggests there is a real possibility that the Leafs could acquire Brad Marchand.

The Bruins are currently exploring all options with their 37-year-old captain as they slowly slip out of the playoff race in the Eastern Conference.
On the other side, the Leafs have upgraded their forward group with the addition of Scott Laughton and many have reported Leafs' GM Brad Treliving would like an upgrade on the wing as well.
As Kevin Weekes alluded to a month ago, pending free agent Brad Marchand would be an ideal fit for the Leafs given his pedigree and the type of player he is. He is now suggesting it once again.
To acquire the notorious pest, would likely cost the Leafs a significant amount of assets, solely because it would be a trade between longstanding rivals in the same division. That aside, Marchand could very well be the perfect addition to the Leafs' top-six.
The trade deadline continues to creep closer and closer with fans biting their nails, waiting for Brad Treliving to put the finishing touches on the playoff roster.
Acquiring the captain of a heated rival would certainly provide the shock-value that fans want and are hoping for, but with Marchand's $6.1M cap hit and the lack of cap space for the Leafs, it is a complicated deal to complete.
