Beloved Maple Leafs forward Max Domi questioned his future with the Leafs earlier this off-season after another sub-par season that saw him struggle to find a consistent role.
Unfortunately, as he experienced in his first season with the Leafs, the 30-year-old struggled to not only produce offensively, but also develop a defined role. Being unable to find a role for himself wasn't entirely Domi's fault, given that he was shuffled from line-to-line and from wing to center and back again.
Max Domi Also Questioned His Own Future With the Maple Leafs
The day before free agency, Domi appeared on 'The Roz and Mocha Show' where he was asked about the post-season and his future with the Leafs in an interview that flew significantly under the radar this summer. Despite his enthusiasm in hoping he would remain with the Leafs, there was a bit of uncertainty in his answer.
"Absolutely I will be. I hope so. At the end of the day I'm not the GM so I don't make those decisions. I would play, until the day I die, for this team. It means the world to me to wear that sweater and to represent this city."
It would appear as though the son of fan-favourite tough guy Tie Domi will be sticking around for another season as we are now a month away from training camp, and barring a major shakeup, Domi has an opportunity to slot in next to Auston Matthews on the Leafs' top line, where he had the majority of his success his first season in Toronto.
