New Leaf explains how he got his nickname, receives a special opportunity with Tim Hortons

The Leafs have a lot of new faces on the roster thanks to a flurry of moves by GM Kyle Dubas ahead of the March 3rd trade deadline. One of those players is former St. Louis Blue, Boston Bruin and Florida Panther, Noel Acciari.

Acciari has quickly endeared himself to the Leafs' locker room and to the fanbase, thanks to the style of game he plays. Acciari is relentless on the puck, finishes every check, provides some much needed secondary scoring and is not afraid to mix it up and drop the gloves when the situation calls for it.

Acciari has a very unique nickname. As many of you may know, he goes by "Cookie" to his friends and teammates. He revealed shortly after arriving in Toronto just how he got his nickname. He re-shared the story this week during a Maple Leafs TikTok video, during a very special event.

A self-proclaimed "cookie guy", Acciari revealed that, a few years back, during his time with the Florida Panthers, he was upset that there were no cookies available to the team following their pre-game meal. One of his teammates saw how worked up he was and told him that his name was "Cookie" from there on out.

In what was probably his favourite moment in Toronto so far, Acciari was granted the opportunity to visit Tim Hortons Head Office in Toronto, where he was welcomed into the "test kitchen". Acciari was able to test out some of Tim's famous cookie line, including the classic Chocolate Chip cookie and the Cadbury Mini Egg cookie. Who knows? Maybe this will even lead to a sponsorship deal! Check out the video below:

How can anyone not absolutely love this guy? As solid of an addition as he's been on the ice, off the ice he seems to have a winning personality and seems like a fun character to be around. Hopefully the Leafs find a way to extend this guy. It just seems like he's a really good fit in Toronto.
