Speculated to be in the Leafs' opening night lineup, 20 year-old Easton Cowan reflected on his training camp and vows to be better as the season progresses.

Head coach Craig Berube all but confirmed the Leafs' opening night lineup on Wednesday following practice to wrap up the club's annual Muskoka trip.
In doing so, top prospect Easton Cowan is expected to be in the Leafs' opening night roster over the likes of Nick Robertson, David Kampf and Calle Jarnkrok.

Easton Cowan Believes He Can Do Better and is Looking Forward to the Challenge

Before leaving Muskoka, the 2023 first-round pick also also spoke with the media where he shared what he's learned from linemates Steven Lorentz and Scott Laughton.
"I've learned a lot from them, two older guys in the league who have played a while, who are smart and know where to place pucks, and get behind the D and play direct. I'm happy with (how he has played so far)."
Aware that he isn't producing the same way he did with the London Knights, Cowan has adapted to being a bit of a pest on the fourth line, but knows the offense will come.
"I know I'm not producing a crazy amount of points (two assists in three pre-season games). But my 200-foot game, I've felt so confident with it. It feels good to be a reliable player. But I'm not satisfied. I know I can keep playing better. I'm not too worried about the lines right now, I'm trying to play my game. I'm scoring a lot in practice and that'll translate to a game."
Despite being just 20, Cowan has not expected anything to be handed to him and has adapted to his current role admirably, leaning on his experience with London to earn a top-six role with the Leafs in the same way he did there -- through hard work.
