Joel Quenneville is expected to meet with Gary Bettman about being reinstated to the NHL following the conclusion of the playoffs. Quenneville resigned from coaching the Florida Panthers in October 2021 following the investigation into the Kyle Beach incident that occurred during his tenure in Chicago. Quenneville led the Hawks to three cups in 2010, 2013, and 2015.

According to Lance Hornby of the Toronto Sun, the Leafs are keeping a close eye on the situation. Should Quenneville be reinstated and the Leafs, Quenneville will certainly be at the top of the Leafs' choices to replace Sheldon Keefe. Given that a decision on Quenneville's reinstatement likely won't come for at least another three weeks, the Leafs have more than enough time to evaluate all coaching options should they decide they want to make a change.

While Keefe hasn't done anything specific to deserve to be fired, other than failing to adapt in the playoffs, sometimes a change is needed to push different some buttons for the team and for certain players. It will be an interesting couple of weeks as we still do not have any clarity on the future direction of the team with Kyle Dubas not returning either.
