Just a minute after Buffalo tied the game last night and with less than a minute to go before overtime, Jeff Skinner and Jake Guentzel got into a bit of a scuffle. What began as them trading slashes led to a couple of cross-checks being exchanged before Skinner did what Krill Kaprizov did to Drew Doughty just over a month ago. He cross-checked Guentzel in the mouth.

Skinner received a match penalty and game misconduct for his actions, much like Pierre Engvall did last night. Engvall was suspended for his "high stick" for one game. Meanwhile, Kaprizov only received a fine for his cross-check to the face of Doughty.

Since Skinner was assessed a match penalty on the play, he automatically receives a hearing with NHL Player Safety. After suspending Engvall for one game today, it will be interesting to see if Player Safety will follow the same guidelines or issue a fine using Kaprizov's incident.
