It's been a less than ideal start to the season for the Edmonton Oilers, who currently sit 1-3-1 through their first 5 games of the season. Now, it's about to get a whole lot tougher as they now face the daunting task climbing out of the hole they've dug themselves without the luxury of having Connor McDavid around to help.

McDavid was injured during Saturday's game against the Winnipeg Jets with about 4 and a half minutes remaining in the 3rd period. It's unclear as to exactly what happened, but here's his final shift from the game. He did not play in OT.

The Oilers will now have to go without the reigning Hart Trophy, Art Ross Trophy, Rocket Richard Trophy and Ted Lindsay Award winner, who is expected to be sidelined on a week-to-week basis. McDavid will miss at least the next 3 games, against the Wild, Rangers and Flames, at which point he'll be re-evaluated. If he's given the green light in a week, he may be ready in time for the Dallas Stars on November 2nd. If he needs the full 2 weeks, he likely won't return until November 9th against San Jose, which would mean 6 missed games.
