Starting the season with a horrific record of 5-10-1, the Edmonton Oilers need to turn everything around in a hurry if they're going to live up to their expectations of being a Stanley Cup contending team.

One of the biggest holes in their roster is the goaltending position, and now NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman is reporting the Oilers may be looking to acquire a goalie from within the Atlantic Division. The potential targets? Montreal Canadiens goaltenders Sam Montembeault and Cayden Primeau.

The Habs currently have arguably three NHL caliber goaltenders between Jake Allen and the aforementioned Montembeault and Primeau. While the veteran Allen is the one most often flaunted in trade rumours, the latter two names are the ones reportedly drawing interest from the Oilers due to their potential upside.

Both goaltenders come on cheap contracts, but haven't performed well in their limited opportunities with the Canadiens this year. The Oilers continue to make questionable decisions regarding their goaltending position, which is arguably the most important position on the team. Sooner or later, this organization will have to learn that you can't rely on average goaltending or worse if your team defense is not top quality.
