Reporter cuts the cheese during interview, Vasilevskiy can't keep his composure and everyone burst out laughing

At the beginning of training camp, many were shocked when the Tampa Bay Lightning announced that goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy would miss the first couple months of the season due to back surgery. Vasilevskiy finally made his return last week against the Carolina Hurricanes and has played five of the Lightning's six games since returning. Last night, Vasilevskiy collected his first shutout of the season in a 4-0 win over the Dallas Stars on a night where Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman was honoured for playing 1000 games in the NHL.

Following the game, Vasilevskiy was part of a hilarious moment during his post-game media scrum. In the middle of answering a question about what was going through his mind and how he reset over the last 48 hours, Vasilevskiy was interrupted by a reporter breaking wind. It happened in a moment of silence as Vasilevskiy was in between sentences, so it could be heard by everyone. Vasilevskiy did his best to hold in his laughter, but burst out laughing as did many of the other reporters and had to ask another reporter to repeat the question.

It was unfortunate timing for the reporter, who surely thought it was going to be a silent rip, but it provided some comedic relief for everyone. Following a short chuckle, everyone went about their business and Vasilevskiy continued his media scrum. I can only imagine what the interaction was like in the locker room after the media had vacated.

In five games since returning from injury, Vasilevskiy is 2-3-0 with a 3.03 GAA and a .887 save percentage. Those are far off from his usual numbers, but after not having played for months, it's no surprise. As he said during his scrum, it will take some time for him to get back into a rhythm.
