TSN's Darren Dreger has revealed that the Toronto Maple Leafs are expected to name their new head coach with Tuesday being the likely target date.

Since the Leafs were eliminated in the first round by the Boston Bruins, and after Sheldon Keefe was subsequently fired, it has been widely speculated that Craig Berube would be the next head coach of the Leafs.
After interviewing him over this past weekend, as well as Todd McLellan on Monday this week, it appears that the Leafs are set to name their new coach on Tuesday next week according to Darren Dreger on 'First Up' this morning.
"I know that the Maple Leafs have gone the distance with Craig Berube... Brad Treliving has done his due diligence. He really has... He has talked to other individuals. He has vetted all the top candidates.

I thought they would have it done by today, end of week, but I expect they will be make an announcement early next week. I'd be surprised if something isn't announced Tuesday.

I don't think they found a single individual that wasn't whole-heartedly in favour of bringing Berube in as the next head coach."

The 2019 Stanley Cup Champion coach has been seen as the best fit for the Leafs to initiate a culture change and now it appears he will get the opportunity to do so. With Berube likely to be named the new coach of the Leafs, GM Brad Treliving can cross one thing off of his to-do list and can now focus on the rest of the organizational decisions with the draft and free agency approaching.
