TSN sadly announced today that one of their long-time fan favourite sportscaster Darren Dutchyshen has passed away at the age of 57.

In September of 2021, TSN's Darren Dutchyshen announced that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and was unsure if he would ever be able to return to his seat at the Sportscentre desk. A year later, he returned to his chair beside his long-time co-host Jennifer Hedger.
Dutchyshen started his career in his home province of Saskatchewan as a sportscaster for STV before moving East to IMTV in Manitoba. Following a stint in Manitoba, he hosted ITV's Sports Night in edmonton and was also the host of the daily radio host for a sportscast on 630 CHED. "Dutchy" as he was famously known, joined TSN in 1995 where he became a mainstay.
He was a person with larger-than-life personality and booming voice that had a flare for the dramatics in everything he did. Even if you didn't know much about him, any time you heard "Bang!" or "Bang, back of the net!" on Sportscentre, you knew who was commentating.
He will be greatly missed in the sports community. Our condolences go out to his family and friends during this difficult time.
