Team Canada forward Sam Bennett has a sour taste in his mouth after the loss to Team USA on Saturday at the 4 Nations Face-Off and has sent a Message to Team USA during his post-game comments.
Fireworks were expected in what was the first meeting between Canada and the USA in best-on-best competition in since 2016, but
nobody expected there to be 3 fights just 9 seconds into the game.
While Canada came out strong, it was ultimately the U.S. that walked away with a 3-1 win, securing their spot in the 4 Nations Face-Off finals next week.
In his post-game availability, Bennett had a stern message for Team USA. The sum of what he had to say was that this is far from over.
"We want them again," Bennett said following the nailbiting loss.
The Stanley Cup champion, like the entire Canadian roster, knows that if they want another shot at the U.S., they have to beat Finland on Monday in regulation.
"In this tournament, all we've got to do is win another game and we get them again."
Should Canada beat Finland, they will need their star forwards capitalize on their chances if they want to exact revenge and win another best-on-best tournament against Team USA.
It's safe to say that Bennett, if he remains in the lineup, will be a little extra motivated to beat the American team on their own terrain in Boston on Thursday, should the Canadians beat Finland on Monday.
