Jets head coach Rick Bowness has stepped away from the team effective immediately
Some breaking news coming through as the Winnipeg Jets have announced that the team's head coach will be stepping away from the team effective immediately and has been granted a leave of absence following a medical emergency involving his wife, Judy.
Per the Jets' official PR account on Twitter/X, Judy Bowness had suffered a seizure and has been admitted to hospital. The team has approved a leave of absence for Bowness, with associate coach Scott Arniel stepping in and taking over as interim coach while Bowness focuses on his family.
The long-time NHL coach is in his 2nd season as bench boss in Winnipeg. He posted a 46-33-3 record with the Jets last season, losing in the 1st round to the Vegas Golden Knights, who went on to win their first Stanley Cup in 2022-23.
We'd like to wish Rick and his family all the best as his wife undergoes additional testing. We ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
