Former Canadiens forward turned Maple Leaf Michael Pezzetta chimes in on the rivalry between the two historic clubs, only this time, on the other end of the ice.
As the Toronto Maple Leafs gear up for their third pre-season game against longtime rivals, the Montreal Canadiens, the intensity of the rivalry is proving to be alive and well -- no matter the time of year.
Former Canadien and new Maple Leafs forward Michael Pezzetta weighed in on the passion and excitement of facing Montreal, this time from the opposite bench.
Luke Fox captured Pezzetta's thoughts on X:
"I don't think there's a better ticket in hockey than when Toronto and Montreal play against each other... If you can't get up for that game, there's probably something wrong with you."
Pezzetta Eager to Bring Skillset to Hometown Club Maple Leafs
While Pezzetta has his sights set on cracking the Maple Leafs' opening-night roster, the challenge may be tougher than expected. Toronto's forward depth is among the strongest in years, and the competition at training camp has been fierce.
Still, even if he doesn't make the opening-night lineup, Pezzetta is expected to see action during the season. His physical, hard-hitting style and willingness to drop the gloves fills a void left after the departure of veteran
Ryan Reaves.
