Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving provided some insight into the Leafs' goaltending situation and their plan moving forward in the absence of Joseph Woll.

On Tuesday, the Leafs announced that Woll would be taking a leave of absence to tend to a personal family matter.
When making the announcement, Treliving noted that there was no timeline for his return, but he was hopeful that the 27-year-old would not miss too much time.
In the absence of Woll, Treliving discussed the Leafs' goaltending situation on Wednesday's episode of 'The Real Kyper and Bourne', revealing what the plan is until he returns.
"An opportunity now presents itself for somebody else. We think we have good depth at the position. Does that mean we don't continue to look? You are always looking. At every position, you are looking at ways to get better," stated Treliving.

Brad Treliving Gives Dennis Hildeby Vote of Confidence In Joseph Woll's Absence

The Leafs GM is known for always being involved in conversations around the league, so it is no surprise that he will be checking in on the goaltending market, but in admitting that, he provided a massive vote of confidence to Dennis Hildeby.
"In Dennis' position, this is his time for me... He has had a really good camp so far, and he was really good last night... At some point, you have to let people swim a little bit; take the training wheels off and let them ride. That is certainly the case we are looking at with Dennis right now."
The 24-year-old is entering his third season in North America and is coming off of a good season with the Toronto Marlies where he posted a 16-9-4 record along with a 2.55 GAA and .908 save percentage. The Swedish native also got a 'cup of coffee' with the Leafs last season, playing in six games as Anthony Stolarz and Joseph Woll battled injuries.
How many regular season games Hildeby gets into remains to be seen, but Treliving's comments, along with Hildeby's three-year extension, show that the Leafs believe in his abilities and see him as a long-term solution in goal.
