"This past summer the Toronto Maple Leafs landed one of the biggest UFA's to hit the market in the last decade when they signed John Tavares. While the move brought joy across Leafs nation, it broke many hearts across the NHL and happily one of those was Montreal Canadiens' fans. Habs' fans thought going back to last year they had a chance to land Tavares because of his friendship with Shea Weber and Carey Price, however that didn't even land them at least a meeting with Tavares.The Leafs new star spoke about it when asked by Montreal media before Monday's preseason game. «There are a lot of great teams, a lot of great franchises in the NHL,» Tavares said after Monday's practice. «I felt humbled to have the interest I had. You feel very fortunate to be in the position I was in.
