A popular Maple Leafs podcaster has shared a unique theory behind why the Leafs looked off in Games 3 and 4 in Florida over the weekend.

Aside from goaltender Joseph Woll, no Maple Leafs player really stepped up and made a difference for the team in their 2-0 loss to the Florida Panthers on Sunday evening during Game 4.
Now, with the series returning to Toronto for Game 5 on Wednesday, the series will take a very interesting tilt one way or the other following that game.
The Leafs were very composed and collected for Games 1 and 2, taking a 2-0 series lead, but when the series shifted to Florida over the weekend, we saw a very different Leafs team, which has led to one Leafs podcaster proposing a very intriguing conspiracy theory.
After Sunday's Game 4 loss, SDPN's Steve Dangle opined that he believes that the Maple Leafs are actually battling a team-wide illness at the moment.
During a recent podcast, Dangle suggested that after we all saw Anthony Stolarz vomit on the bench, possibly due to a concussion, an illness, or perhaps both, we also saw players like Calle Jarnkrok, Chris Tanev, and Matthew Knies all briefly leave Games 3 and 4 without an injury. Dangle believes that it may have been to use the restroom.
On Tuesday, when the Leafs returned to the ice for practice, they were missing Calle Jarnkrok due to a reported illness.
On Sunday, Auston Matthews was unable to attend the morning skate, which could suggest that he was also under the weather, and resting up for the game. It could also be the reason why he looked so rough over the last two games, and has been unproductive offensively.
Whether the Leafs have been dealing with a team-wide illness or not is irrelevant now. The series is knotted up at 2-2 with Game 5 on the docket for tomorrow night. Hopefully a rested and rejuvenated Leafs team is ready to go when the puck drops at Scotiabank Arena, because the Panthers have all of the momentum right now.
