Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube has provided a disheartening update on goaltender Anthony Stolarz during his recovery from a head injury suffered in Game 1.
Unfortunately, following their Game 3 overtime loss on Friday, head coach Craig Berube was asked about the status of the 31-year-old netminder. He has provided an unfortunate update.
Berube noted that although Stolarz is progressing, he has yet to resume skating, suggesting he is still ways off from returning.
In his piece for The Athletic Friday, Chris Johnston explained that the minimum amount of time for a player to pass concussion protocol if they have suffered a head injury is seven days.
That means Stolarz would not be able to return to the lineup ahead of Wednesday's Game 5. By the sounds of it, though, Stolarz won't be returning for the rest of the series, unless he takes a drastic turn in his recovery.
Given the up and down performance of Joseph Woll, despite making some timely saves, Leafs Nation is hopeful that he can improve his play and help solidify things in the crease until Stolarz is healthy enough to take back the starter's role.
