Contrary to previous reports at the end of the Memorial Cup Final, it sounds like goaltender Austin Elliott will not be attending Maple Leafs training camp after all.
The London Knights dominated the Canadian Junior circuit this year as they ran through the OHL playoffs in just 17 games before taking down the Medicine Hat Tigers in the Memorial Cup Final.
It was sweet vindication for Toronto Maple Leafs prospect
Easton Cowan after coming so close to winning the Memorial Cup in 2023-24, but falling to the Saginaw Spirit in the final after another dominant season in the OHL.
However, as reported by Joshua Kloke of The Athletic, Elliott was not invited by the Maple Leafs and he will instead be attending the Dallas Stars' development camp. He later added that he wasn't entirely sure where the rumour stemmed from, but it was never in the cards to begin with.
That's a bit of a letdown after the 21-year-old posted an amazing season that saw him go 3-0-0 with the Saskatoon Blades before being placed on waivers and then a 48-2-0 run with the Knights that included a 32-1-0 record in the regular season.
Elliott saved the best for the last as he posted a 1.74 GAA and a .936 SV% in the Memorial Cup Final, which bested his .924 SV% and a 2.10 GAA during the regular season.
