Elliotte Friedman takes a shot at the Leafs

Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman could help himself, taking a clear shot at the Maple Leafs and captain Auston Matthews following the Oilers Game 1 win in the Stanley Cup Finals.

Last night, we saw Oilers star Leon Draisaitl help the Oilers win a razor-close Game 1 against Florida in the Stanley Cup Finals with a thrilling 4-3 OT winner.
The Oilers, viewed by some as "Canada's team" during these Stanley Cup Finals, now have a 1-0 series lead, and are 3 wins away from hoisting the Stanley Cup.
While Leafs fans are still pretty dejected following a disappointing exit in Round 2, the rest of the League has moved on and shifted their focus to the Finals. Some, however, can't resist taking shots at the Leafs. It appears as though Sportsnet's top Insider is one of them.
Following the Oilers' OT winner, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman took to Twitter/X to point out the fact that there were "no passengers" on either team in Game 1.
Most will recall, I'm sure, that Matthews, along with teammate Mitch Marner, felt as though the Leafs had too many passengers, and revealed as much publicly following the loss in Game 7 against the Panthers.
The Leafs have not played since Round 2, so Friedman's comment once again shows that, even when they're out of the running and have been for weeks, everything is still all about the Leafs.
