Former Maple Leafs winger Mason Marchment is reportedly being shopped by the Dallas Stars, and a reunion with the Leafs could be just what the doctor ordered.

As the Stanley Cup Final kicks off between the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers, the rest of the NHL is shifting into offseason mode - strategizing trades, signings, and roster reshuffles.
For the Toronto Maple Leafs, a disappointing second-round exit has sparked intense speculation about what comes next.
With Mitch Marner widely rumored to be on his way out, the Leafs could find themselves with significant cap space and flexibility - fuelling discussions about potential additions.
One name that's gaining traction is Mason Marchment, a former Leaf who might soon be available via trade from the Dallas Stars.
Marchment was originally dealt to Florida in a one-for-one swap for Denis Malgin in 2020 - a move Toronto has long regretted. Since the trade, Marchment has flourished into a productive power forward and may now be available following the Stars' disappointing playoff exit against the Oilers.
According to David Pagnotta on The Fourth Period Podcast, as shared by NHL Rumour Report on X:
"Some chatter the Stars may shop forward Mason Marchment this offseason; looking to create cap flexibility."
Marchment is coming off back-to-back 22-goal seasons and carries a very manageable $4.5 million cap hit. If Dallas is indeed looking to move him, he could represent a smart, cost-effective "buy-low" opportunity for Toronto.
Another name tied to rumours in Dallas is Matt Duchene. The 34-year-old veteran has still been very productive, finishing at 82 points this season. While Duchene would have been a strong fit for the Leafs at a reasonable cost, current speculation suggests his preference is to stay in
the U.S. and re-sign with the Stars.
Whether or not Marchment ends up back in blue and white, one thing is clear; major roster moves are coming for the Leafs. If Marner moves on, the cap space created could allow Toronto to pursue strong additions - and potentially right a wrong from the past by bringing Marchment home.
