Another chapter in the Battle of Ontario will be written tonight at the Air Canada Centre. However, at least on paper, this should not be much of a battle. The Ottawa Senators are a hot mess right now and are coming off an 8-2 beating on home ice at the hands of the Chicago Blackhawks. To make matters worse, winger Bobby Ryan suffered a hand injury last night and will not play tonight.
The Senators did win the first meeting between these two teams back in October, but they have fallen on hard times since. If it wasn't for the Buffalo Sabres and their long-time residence in the Eastern Conference cellar, the Senators would be the worst team in the East.
The good news for Maple Leafs fans is that Connor Carrick will be back in the lineup. The bad news is Travis Dermott will sit out. The rookie had two nice games, one on the left side and one on the right, since being recalled, but we will get another night of Andreas Borgman and Roman Polak on the third pairing.
This will be the final Leafs game before they enter their bye week. They will be off until Tuesday when the host the St. Louis Blues.
