The Maple Leafs have opted to demote Max Domi, removing him from the top-6 after a Game 1 victory over Ottawa, but it's not the demotion that's the primary story here; it's Domi's reaction to the news.

The playoffs are a different style of hockey compared to the regular season. Players will do whatever it takes to win, and it's during this time that you really see who the true team-first guys are.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have a few players who fit that "team-first" description, but perhaps none more so than hometown favourite Max Domi.
Domi originally skated on the second line alongside John Tavares and William Nylander for the first game of the playoffs, but was recently moved to centre the third line. While that could be seen as a demotion, Domi handled the switch with complete professionalism.
Head coach Craig Berube wasn't concerned about Domi's reaction. In fact, he emphasized how smooth the transition has been on Domi's end.
As per Nick Barden on X:
"Max is good about playing wherever. He's done both all season, and it's an easy switch for him. It's not that much of a conversation, to be honest with you."
Heading into the postseason, Domi has embodied what it means to be a great teammate. He recently shared a playoff hype video that he created, featuring current and former Maple Leafs players, with a special spotlight on his dad, Tie Domi -- a nod to the team's legacy.
Domi has also been mentioned as one of the few players capable of going toe-to-toe with Brady Tkachuk amid speculation about who can match Tkachuk's intensity. So far, so good, as Tkachuk was held off the scoresheet during the Leafs' dominant 6-2 win in Game 1.
Domi brought his own edge to the game as well, playing with intensity, throwing some hits, and even roughing up former Leaf Adam Gaudette.
The Maple Leafs are set to host the Senators again on Tuesday night. Domi and the team will need to show that same grit and determination to take a firm grip on the series.
