Maple Leafs Fan Favourite Thrilled About Extension: 'I'd love to play here my whole career'

One Maple Leafs fan favourite has already endeared himself to Leafs Nation, but a recent comment about wanting to retire as a Leaf takes it to a whole new level.
There have been some dark times in Toronto in the last 20 years, and for a lot of that time, the city was not exactly the most desirable location for players who were looking to try to win a Stanley Cup.
Now, however, times have changed, and the Leafs have built a top-flight organization that has become a perennial playoff contender with eyes on bringing hockey's greatest prize back to Canada's Hockey Mecca.
With the recent improvements made by the organization, the Leafs have been able to successfully pursue and lure some quality free agents to Toronto. Now, even locals like John Tavares and Max Domi have come in to try to do the impossible and bring a Cup home.
Another player who we should count on the list of locals who chose to come home is 4th line spark plug Steven Lorentz, who quickly earned the admiration of Leafs Nation with his selfless play and winning attitude.
Lorentz recently put pen to paper on a 3-year extension in Toronto, and has consistently expressed just how much it means to him to be a Maple Leaf. However, last week, during an interview with Leafs host Ryan Leslie, Lorentz confirmed that he'd like to play the rest of his career in Toronto.
"I've got 3 more years here, and hopefully more after that. Like I said, I'd love to play here my whole career. But, it's definitely something I take a lot of pride in every single time, whether it's a practice jersey or a game jersey, pulling on that Maple Leaf and the blue and white."
Lorentz is currently 29 years of age, and his new deal will take him through his 31-year-old season.
Granted, Lorentz is not generally considered as a top-9 player, but even 4th line role players are valuable -- especially ones like Lorentz, who bleed blue and white.
