Auston Matthews Shares Initial Opinion of Matias Maccelli as a Teammate and a Linemate

Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews was asked about new teammate Matias Maccelli and provided a brief view of his new linemate.
In the aftermath of the Mitch Marner departure, the Leafs knew they needed to bring in a few bodies to try to replace the Markham, Ontario native and all that he brings to the team.
One of the players that the Leafs sought out and swung a trade for was former Utah Mammoth forward Matias Maccelli, who has saddled up next to Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies on the Leafs' top line.
Maccelli got the nod for that top line spot to kick off training camp after Max Domi went down with an injury during off-ice training ahead of camp, and so far, he seems to be a good fit, according to Auston Matthews.
"Yeah, It's been good. I think every day, you know, a little bit better and so I think that's all you can really ask for, especially early on in camp. You just want to build that chemistry and continue to take steps every single day, which I feel like we've been doing."

As far as how Maccelli has fit in off the ice, Matthews confirmed that he has enjoyed getting to know his new linemate and spending some time with him. Matthews seems to be a real fan of Brad Treliving's off-season acquisition.
"He's a pretty laid back guy, kind of quiet at the start, but once you get to know him, I really enjoy spending time with him, talking to him about hockey, about other stuff. I think he's fit in really well, extremely quick, too."
Chemistry on and off the ice is an important part of the game, and judging by Matthews' comments, Maccelli is off to a very good start with his new team.
