The off-season has barely begun but
the Toronto Maple Leafs have been very busy and have addressed the media on multiple occasions.
General Manager Brad Treliving has had his name dangled in the rumour mill since their second round defeat to
the Florida Panthers, but it was announced earlier this week that his job as the architect of the team was not in jeopardy.
It's a major step for Treliving, because not only was he able to escape the clutches of what is going to be a summer of changes from top to bottom, but Pelley is hopeful that he is going to take on increased duties heading into the 2025-26 season.
"Brad will be our GM," Pelley said. "Whether he takes on a larger role is something that will be determined down the road."
What that extra responsibility will be remains to be seen but considering the team is without a team president and alternate governor, they might need their general manager to dip his toes in a few other departments within the organization.
However, Pelley added that while he will be more hands on this summer when it comes to the makeup of the front office, he's going to continue to leave the hockey decisions to Treliving and the rest of the hockey minds in his employ.
"I'm not going to be deciding who we draft and what free agents we're going to sign."
Those questions should be addressed when Treliving meets with the media some time next week.
