The Toronto Maple Leafs negotiations with Mitch Marner don't seem to be going very far at the moment. General manager Kyle Dubas still needs to find ways to improve his team especially on the blueline and he's started to look at his options. One specific pending free agent seems to have gotten Dubas' attention as he's already started discussions with him. According to David Pagnotta of the Fourth Period, Dubas has spoken with Vancouver Canucks pending free agent Ben Hutton. From all accounts the Canucks have decided to let Hutton walk as they didn't sign him to a restricted free agent qualifying offer. Hutton ate up plenty of minutes last year for the Canucks as they dealt with plenty of injury issues on their blueline. While the 26 year old isn't exactly an offensive forward, he's a reliable lefty that head coach Mike Babcock would probably love. Hutton's last deal saw him make $2.8million a season and will likely see that same number again or maybe around $3.5-4million. Do you think Hutton would look good on the Leafs' blueline?
