While neither player has had their breakout moment just yet, it's not uncommon for players to need some time to adjust to a new team's playstyle and their teammates.
Former NHLer Keith Yandle, who recently joined the Spittin' Chiclets podcast full-time, shared his thoughts on his former teammate and when he believes Laughton will finally adjust to the Maple Leafs' system.
As per LeafsLatest on X:
"He's a student of the game. He's watching video, asking questions all the time I think for him, you will see the adjustment on ice around the two-week mark as opposed to a month and a half."
Though Laughton isn't typically known for his point production, he significantly strengthens the Leafs' center position, an area they've needed to address for some time. His versatility and strong defensive play at 3C have allowed players like John Tavares to thrive in the offensive zone.
As both Laughton and Carlo continue to adjust, once they settle in, the Maple Leafs will be a formidable team with a wealth of depth moving forward, especially in the playoffs.
