"What everybody was hoping would be a sweet quick negotiation is far from it. Mitch Marner still hasn't signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs and it's starting to sound like it's not coming any time soon. The Leafs are in cap trouble and general manager Kyle Dubas has said he'd like to get the Marner deal done first so he can address the team's other needs. However now it sounds like he might be ready to give up on negotiations and move on. Dubas told media on Thursday that "it's not a forgone conclusion the Leafs would match a Mitch Marner offer sheet" according to Chris Johnston of Sportsnet. The Leafs GM explained they would have to weigh out the options which would likely be for first round picks. Dubas added the same goes for any offer sheets signed by Kasperi Kapanen and Andreas Johnsson.
