Dreger Makes Worrisome Statement Regarding Mitch Marner.

"The Toronto Maple Leafs have a huge contract to figure out this summer with Mitch Marner hitting restricted free agency. Everybody is hoping that general manager Kyle Dubas is able to get it done and avoid another William Nylander like situation. However the Leafs don't have much cap space and from all accounts it doesn't seem Marner has any plans to take a hometown discount. TSN's Darren Dreger made some worrisome comments for Leafs' fans recently while he appeared on TSN 1050. According to Dreger, Marner's camp is ready to take it to the next level as they won't budge off their asking price. Dreger reports that he expects Marner and his camp to start meeting other teams starting on June 26th during the RFA offersheet interview period. He adds the only way the Leafs can avoid this is with a very aggressive contract offer of over $10million per season and more likely closer to $11million per season. It's risky business for the Leafs as they already have Auston Matthews signed at $11.6million a season and John Tavares at $11million a season. Something will have to give....
