Could Marner & Matthews Each Ask For A $8yr, $100M Deal?

"Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas told reporters this week that he was currently negotiating with Auston Matthews and his agent on a contract extension. The deal will likely be huge and set the tone for Mitch Marner's contract as well. Exactly how much can the duo ask for, it could get as high as an 8 year deal at $100million bringing a $12.5million AAV. McKenzie said that Marner's agent will start off with whatever Matthews signs for as a negotiating point. McKenzie admits he probably won't get it, he adds it's hard to make a case that Marner has been more valuable than Matthews even if he's registered more points. Do you think the Leafs can afford to take a cap hit of over $20million a year for both combined?

McKenzie answered he will ask for the same, he probably won't get it, but he's going to ask for it, and if he can't get the same he will try and get as close as possible to it. Try and make a case that Marner has been less valuable than Matthews. You think you can make that case?
