The Toronto Maple Leafs lose yet another player to injury in what has been an incredibly unlucky season on the injury front as Matthew Knies ruled out vs. Blues.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are in the midst of horrendous start to the season, sitting below .500 and outside of a playoff spot.
Injuries Continue to Plague Leafs This Season
The Toronto Maple Leafs are already without out several key players due to injury. Unfortunately, they will lose another important player, as Matthew Knies is a late scratch in tonight's game.
As per Chris Johnston on X:
Knies in Midst of Career Season
While the news is terrible for the Maple Leafs, it's equally as disappointing for Knies, who has been off to an incredible start to the season. In 19 games this season, Knies has amassed 22 points, putting him at a 95-point pace over 82 games.
In a season where much has gone wrong for the Maple Leafs, Knies has been a bright spot on the team, so the 23-year-old going down to injury could not have come at a worse time.
Who Comes in for the Maple Leafs?
With Knies a late scratch, it is likely that Sammy Blais will draw into the lineup against his former club, the St. Louis Blues. Blais has appeared in 6 games this season, amassing 2 points, and will be looking to solidify his spot on the roster.
