Video compilation surfaces of new Leafs GM Brad Treliving during his playing days in the ECHL
A couple of days have now passed since the Leafs named Brad Treliving the team's new GM and, in large, Leafs Nation appears to be taking the stance of "cautiously optimistic" after Treliving's press conference. He said all the right things and pressed a lot of the right buttons in his first media availability in Toronto and acquitted himself quite well, but now the real work begins.
What many may not know about Treliving is that he's not just the heir to the Boston Pizza fortune, he was actually a pro hockey player himself, spending 5 seasons jumping around between the ECHL, IHL and AHL - his most common team being the Columbus Chill in the ECHL.
Having an intimate knowledge of what playing professional hockey is like will undoubtedly give Treliving the edge over Dubas in terms of experience. Yes, Kyle was a rink rat in Sault Ste. Marie growing up and has been around the game for most of his life, but he also hadn't played the game at a high level.
You could tell from Treliving's introductory presser that he is a pretty charismatic guy. Well, as it turns out, that charisma is not a new characteristic. Here's a glimpse at Treliving during his playing days.
