A recent article from Craig Morgan of gophnx.com has sparked some discussion centred around Leafs franchise pivot Auston Matthews leaving the Maple Leafs to go home to Arizona.

It's a topic that's been discussed ad nauseam, and Morgan admitted that the Coyotes would have to build a better team, draft well, find a goalie, find an arena, find a practice facility and actually spend some money on players to make it a consideration for Matthews. Nevertheless, any talk of Leafs leaving Toronto is bound to cause a media frenzy.
When asked about the article, Matthews had this to say,
"I really, really enjoy playing in Toronto. I really believe in this team. I love the passion that the city brings, Leafs Nation & all that comes along with it."
Matthews doesn't seem like the type of player who would want to go from the biggest spotlight in the league to a team that doesn't even have an arena for next season. I'd say the chances of the Coyotes leaving the desert are much higher than those of Matthews going to play there.
The Leafs and Coyotes will square off tonight at 10:00PM with the Leafs looking to bounce back from 2 sub par showings.
