Earlier this week, we lost two members of the Maple Leafs family as prospect Rodion Amirov and legend Bobby Baun passed away within hours of one another. Baun is fondly remembered for scoring the game-winning goal in Game 6 of the 1964 Stanley Cup Finals while skating on a broken ankle.
"Sad to hear of the passing of Bobby Baun. In my rookie year in Hershey I was minding my own business watching a fight and Bobby came up behind me and put me in a choke hold. He taught me a big lesson that game. Always know who's on the ice. Godspeed Bobby," said Cherry on Twitter.
Cherry, who was famously fired over a controversial comment that appeared to be directed towards foreigners planting roots in Canada, has shifted from television to the podcasting sphere following his dismissal from CBC/Sportsnet. He now runs his Grapevine podcast with his family.
