BREAKING: Patrick Kane to sign with Atlantic Division rival
After weeks of speculation, Patrick Kane has finally chosen his new team. Following off-season hip surgery, Kane had been undergoing treatment in Toronto and resumed skating approximately six weeks ago. The last couple of weeks saw him and his representatives meet with a number of teams including the Florida Panthers, Buffalo Sabres, Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings.
Initially, it was expected Kane was going to make his decision prior to the US Thanksgiving weekend, but that did not happen. Instead, it was revealed this morning that Kane has chosen to sign with the Detroit Red Wings.
The 35-year-old is coming off of a 57 point season, split between the Chicago Blackhawks and the New York Rangers and is just 2 seasons removed from a 92-point campaign. Kane will join an already potent offense in Detroit that boasts Dylan Larkin, Alex DeBrincat and Lucas Raymond.
More to come....
