Pat Maroon is shipping off to Boston after being traded from Minnesota

Last night, we actually saw the Toronto Maple Leafs push around the Boston Bruins for the first time in the better part of the last couple of decades. Even though they lost 4-1, we saw a team who was invested in competing hard and winning the game, and if that game had been played 100 times, the Leafs may have won 90 of those games, given what we saw last night. We saw Tyler Bertuzzi and Max Domi drop the gloves while Jake McCabe was involved in pretty much everything after the whistle. Obviously, that didn't sit well with Boston.

Less than 24 hours after the game, the Boston Bruins felt they needed to add some more beef to their lineup and acquired Jack Edwards' favourite pizza guy, Pat Maroon from the Minnesota Wild. The 35-year-old Maroon is currently on LTIR with a back injury, and at the time he was placed on LTIR (February 8), he was projected to be out at least six weeks, so he should be back just in time to ramp up before the playoffs.
Maroon was traded from the Tampa Bay Lightning to Minnesota in July this past off-season in a cap dump where the Lightning retained $200K of his $1M cap hit. Maroon has won three straight Stanley Cups, one with the St. Louis Blues and two with Tampa Bay. In 778 career games, Maroon has 304 points and 990 penalty minutes.
