Leafs captain asked about the idea of a possible Stanley Cup parade in Toronto this summer; his response is excellent
This past Sunday, the Leafs held an outdoor practice at Nathan Phillips Square that featured a 3-on-3 tournament, and PWHPA skills competition among other things. Following the festivities, John Tavares was asked about possibly returning to Nathan Phillips Square in four months or so for a different kind of celebration.
"Absolutely, you think about it all the time. A lot of work ahead and one day at a time, continuing our growth as a group and figure out the areas where we have to get better that's what we're working towards, but no doubt from time to time those thoughts come across your mind," said Tavares about returning to the square for Stanley Cup celebrations.
The Leafs have 28 games left in the regular season and have all but guaranteed a first round matchup with Tampa Bay again, so let's not plan the parade until we at least get out of the first round. For now though, the Leafs need to focus on stringing together wins without Matt Murray and Auston Matthews, who are both out as they deal with ankle and knee issues.
The Leafs take on Patrick Kane and the lowly Hawks Wednesday night in what will could be another "the Leafs play down to their opponent" games before they take on Montreal on Saturday for another.
