The Toronto Maple Leafs are in need of big changes after another playoff disappointment, and some leaked information has put a timeline on the first big change.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have once again failed to make a deep playoff run, falling in 7 games in Round 2 to the Florida Panthers. Game 7 ended in embarrassing fashion, with the Leafs getting stomped 6-1 on home ice, and relentlessly booed by fans throughout the latter half of the game.
Now, the organization appears to be headed for a major shakeup -- one that may begin not with the players, but with the front office.
According to @yyzsportsmedia on X, there's speculation that an MLSE board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, which could lead to significant changes for the team being announced shortly thereafter.
"Rumblings of a MLSE board meeting Thursday... Precursor of chchchchanges???"
Once the front office situation is settled, the focus will shift to deciding which players the team will keep or let go. However, those roster decisions likely won't be made until after Thursday's board meeting, when it's determined who will lead the organization moving forward.
One thing is certain, the Maple Leafs organization is in desperate need of change. The current structure simply isn't working, the fans are sick it it, and the lack of playoff success over the past two decades speaks for itself.
