The consensus remains that the Toronto Maple Leafs need some defensive help if they want to have any success in the playoffs. However the cost to land a top tier defenseman is pretty expensive through the trade market so getting a rental might be a better option. Sportsnet's Luke Fox has listed six potential trade targets the Leafs could land for a cheaper deadline price. Most of these guys considering their age would be a short term plug solution.Alex Edler- The Canucks defenseman is a lefty, so we're not sure it's a likely option for Dubas. Jay Bouwmeester - The Blues vet has actually been a healthy scratch a couple of times this season, however he seems like the kind of vet that head coach Mike Babcock would likely love come playoff time. Niklas Kronwall - The Wings defenseman kind of fits the same mold that Bouwmeester does and has a history with Babcock. Nick Jensen - One of the younger players on the list, we're not sure the Wings would be willing to give him up. Ben Lovejoy - The Devils vet would definitely eat up minutes, but that's about it. Marc Methot - The Stars veteran is currently injured and carries a modified no trade clause, it's believed he used to block a trade to the Leafs previously. Do you think any of these guys could help the Leafs for a playoff push?
