With the Toronto Maple Leafs net empty in the final minute against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday night, Sens forward Ridly Greig sealed the Sens victory by emphatically slapping the puck into the empty net on a breakaway.
The Leafs, and especially veteran defenseman Morgan Rielly, were not pleased with Greig's actions and Rielly not took exception, he made sure to deliver a very clear-cut message to Greig and the Sens. Rielly cross-checked Greig high and sent him to the ice before everyone on the ice became involved in the scrum. Following the game, the Leafs were asked about the scrum, with Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe leading the way.
Rielly received a major penalty for charging and game misconduct and will likely have a hearing with the NHL's Player Safety department. Rielly was also not made available post-game for comment, though I'm sure he'd have said something similar to what Keefe, Domi and Jones had to say.
