Senators to Try to Stick it to the Maple Leafs by Swiping Star Winger in Free Agency

After making the playoffs for the first time since a miraculous run to the Conference Finals in 2017, the Ottawa Senators plan to be aggressive this off-season
under new ownership.
Whether that is via trade, free agency or both remains to be seen, but they do have the cap space to go 'big-game hunting'.
The free agent crop is slim this season, with Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner leading the way, and while the front-runners for his services appear to be on the West coast, The Fourth Period's Dave Pagnotta believes the Senators will be aggressive in their attempts to land the Markham, Ontario native.
"It's two fold. You get the best player on the free agent market that scored 102 points, and you get him the hell out of Toronto. I wouldn't be surprised if they take a stab at it," said Pagnotta on Monday's edition of 'The Sheet'.
Mitch Marner Reportedly Won't Sign in Canada
The Senators may want to be aggressive in their pursuit of Marner, but according to Daily Faceoff's Anthony DiMarco, the former first-round pick
won't sign with another Canadian team, so Ottawa's efforts are likely already wasted well before July 1st.
Not to say that the impossible can't happen, but should Marner ultimately turn down tax-free states, sunshine and beaches for Toronto's provincial rival, he will be showered with boos every time he touches the puck at Scotiabank Arena next season.
