Former Maple Leafs prospect Fraser Minten recently spoke about the difficulties and emotions of being traded away from Toronto at the trade deadline.
The Toronto Maple Leafs made a bold move at the trade deadline, fully embracing a win-now mentality by trading away top prospects and high draft picks to acquire key players.
In a recent conversation with Mark Masters, Fraser Minten recently opened up about his time in Toronto and what it meant for him to wear the Maple Leafs jersey.
"A tough moment... Some tough goodbyes right away. It's such a cool place to play, especially being a Canadian kid... To get the opportunity to put that sweater over your shoulders is pretty cool."
For Minten, it was difficult to leave the organization that drafted and developed him. He had started to fit into the team's structure and had made a strong impression on his teammates and staff alike.
Currently, Minten is finding success with the Boston Bruins organization, accumulating 7 points in 9 games for their AHL affiliate, the Providence Bruins.
While the Maple Leafs will miss Minten, the trade was a necessary move for the team. With the addition of Carlo and other changes, the Maple Leafs are poised to try to do some damage at Craig Berube's first kick at the can in Toronto.
