An unconfirmed report has come to light late last night regarding the Leafs working on something with a Western Conference team. No specifics were provided, but other reports out there suggest that it's something very big.
Obviously, the Leafs and Flames have been talking throughout the year, so there's some reason to believe that the Flames could be the team, but the Leafs have also been scouting several Western Conference teams in recent weeks, including the Vancouver Canucks, Los Angeles Kings and Seattle Kraken, among others.
We do know that Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe is not happy with how the Leafs have been playing. We also know that GM Brad Treliving has been trying to bolster his blueline since before the season even began. The trade deadline is now approximately 1 month away, and we have seen in the past that the Leafs like to do their business earlier than a lot of other teams, as we saw with the Ryan O'Reilly deal last February.
Buckle up, folks, this could be an interesting week in Toronto.
